We wanted to stay there for longer. We were worried that the heatwave would make the hut hot but it is shaded by the mature trees in the garden so it stayed really cool. Although by a quiet road, it feels very private and we were not disturbed by any infrequent traffic. The pub and village is 5 minutes stroll and so close to Offa's Dyke for walking. A perfect location for hikers or visiting Hergest Croft gardens in Kington which is 10 minutes away by car.

We had dinner at the Royal Oak which was delicious and they were so friendly in there! We also noted how quiet and peaceful it was as we walked back, so lovely to be away from the constant cars and general noise of a city.

Peace and quiet is what you get in this little place.
We ate at the Royal Oak pub which is a 2 minute walk just over the road. It had a lovely open fire plus they sell few essentials too such as milk. Highly recommend this little hut in Gladestry 😃

Despite it being... read more February, the hut was nice and cosy and warm and it was such a lovely touch that they provide guest slippers for when the floor can be cold! The shower was a dream after a cold afternoon hiking.

The Royal Oak pub was a couple of minutes walk from the pub with an inviting fire and friendly staff. We did a lovely walk on the Offa's Dyke path and Hergest Ridge, which were very easy to get to from the hut.

We would cerainly recommend staying here if you want to explore the local area and we're sure it would be lovely to sit outside in the summer months admiring the view and listening to the stream!

The hut was very clean, everything was comfortable and there were lovely finishing touches too. We didn’t use the outside space because of the weather but the location was very peaceful and quiet with a lovely stream running through the garden. Lots of lovely countryside views and walks in the area as well. The hut also had a heater to keep it warm. The bed was fairly low and firm with comfortable bedding and we had it set up as a double option which was the two beds pushed together. David was also great and showed us around when we arrived and said he would be available if there were any questions or if we needed anything. Great weekend, thank you!

Parked up in a... read more garden full of fox gloves, surrounded by trees, sitting by a wonderfully sparkly babbling brook and serenaded by song thrushes, blackbirds, swifts and so many more of our arial cousins.

The hut is clean and tidy. Fully equipped kitchen, a lovely hot shower. There were some lovely little touches such as soft fluffy slippers for those tired feet after a hard hiked, coffee & tea to warm up and even shower gel and hand wash were supplied

The welcome was warm and informative. Both David and Rita were friendly and responsive to queries.

I left rested and wanting to stay longer. A perfect spot for hikers and escapers!!

You... read more can tell they pride themselves on ensuring their guests have everything they need, and some, with thoughtful extras that didn’t go unnoticed. The shower temperature/pressure was great, the bed super comfortable, the heater worked well and overall the space was extremely clean

On arrival, after David’s greeting, he suggested a great pub, The Harp Inn with incredible views (highly recommend - thanks David)

For the remainder of my stay, the weather wasn’t on my side, however this meant I was able to spend more time in the hut which was a real joy! I did venture to the Book town Hay-on-Wye which was a lovely way to spend a rainy afternoon, only 20 minute drive away

Communication leading up to, and during my stay was easy and thorough

David and Rita are friendly, welcoming and kind hosts that I would happily stay with in future
