How to Book the Hut

Please note: If you’d prefer to pay for your stay at the Gladestry Shepherd’s Hut by credit card, the most convenient way to do so is to book through our AirBnB page here. Note also that as an AirBnB guest, you benefit from “AirCover” insurance in the event of any problems arising that we as your hosts are unable to resolve.

Direct bookings for the Gladestry Shepherd’s Hut can be made for between one and 28 nights, usually with discounts for stays of more than one night. (See the list of our discounted spring/summer and autumn/winter tariffs below.) Please refer to the booking calendar to check availability and to the booking terms and conditions below for more details. NB: Some dates currently marked as available on the calendar may be pending, so we cannot guarantee a reservation until we have confirmed it with you.

Spring/Summer Tariffs (March – September)*

£70.00 per night for 1 night
£60.00 per night for 2-4 nights
£50.00 per night for 5+ nights

* NB: For the 10 days of the Hay Festival, the tariff is £80.00 per night and bookings will only be accepted for a minimum of eight nights.

Autumn/Winter Tariffs (October – February)

£65.00 per night for 1 night
£55.00 per night for 2-4 nights
£45.00 per night for 5+ nights

Booking Terms & Conditions

  1. The number of people entitled to stay at the Gladestry Shepherd’s Hut is restricted to a maximum of two — the person named on the booking form and one other, plus a child under three years of age by prior arrangement. Any guest under the age of 18 years must be accompanied by an adult. No additional guests are allowed to occupy the hut at any time.
  2. If you make your booking more than one week prior to the first night of your stay at the Gladestry Shepherd’s Hut, a deposit of 50% of the rental is payable before your reservation can be confirmed. The balance must be paid within one week of the start of your stay. (If you’re making a reservation less than one week before your intended stay, payment must be made in full at the time of booking.)
  3. In the event of cancellation within two weeks of the first day of your stay at the Gladestry Shepherd’s Hut, any deposit paid to secure your booking is forfeit and, on reservations cancelled within one week, the balance can only be refunded if the hut is satisfactorily re-let to someone else. Travel/cancellation insurance is therefore strongly recommended. (Links to some example policies are listed below.)
  4. All payments must be made in pounds Sterling, either by cheque made payable to D C & R Bridson or by Internet bank transfer (account details on request).
  5. Occupancies commence at 15:00 on the day of arrival and terminate at 11:00 on the day of departure.
  6. Smoking inside the Gladestry Shepherd’s Hut is strictly prohibited.
  7. We are sorry but we cannot accommodate any pets inside the Gladestry Shepherd’s Hut, but well-behaved (ie, quiet) dogs can be kept in the grounds provided they are securely leashed at all times.
  8. Any breakages must be notified to the Gladestry Shepherd’s Hut management and paid for in full before departure.
  9. Guests must leave the hut as they found it.

Cancellation Insurance

Should cancellation be unavoidable, you may lose your deposit, and possibly the balance of your rental if we are unable to let the hut out to someone else for the night(s) you have reserved. We therefore strongly advise you to take out travel/cancellation insurance. The links below are suggested purely to help with your research. These companies are not recommended by the management at the Gladestry Shepherd’s Hut and we do not receive any financial gain if you take out a policy with them:
